Bilingual Skills Pay Off: How to Show Them to Employers

By: The Look Jobs Team

Speaking two or three languages opens doors many candidates don't even know exist. Companies with international customers, hospitals, schools, banks, logistics firms and customer service teams are always looking for bilingual talent.

Be honest about your level

Describe what you can actually do: talk to customers, write emails, lead meetings, translate documents. "Fluent in Spanish" says little; "Handled customer calls in Spanish for 3 years" says a lot.

Show it in action

  • List situations where you used the language on the job.
  • Mention certificates (TOEFL, IELTS, DELE, Cambridge) if you have them, but real-world use matters more.
  • Record a short intro video in the job's language. On Look Jobs, you can add it to your profile.

Be ready to interview in either language

Employers often run part of the interview in the required language. Practice talking about your experience and goals out loud.

Look Jobs was built as a trilingual job site to connect bilingual talent with the employers who need it. Browse jobs.
