Goals of the year: why do many people give up on them in February?

A study by Statistic Brain Research points out that 50% of people who make plans for the year end up giving up in February. The main cause of this phenomenon is the lack of planning.

When goals are built impulsively, without a solid foundation and with unrealistic goals, the chance of not being able to meet them is very high. And what happens is not always a rational withdrawal, but attitudes of that individual that sabotage reaching the goal.

You also need to know how to focus on the process and not just on the results you want to achieve. That is: if you intend to make a career transition or dream of a promotion in the company, you need to prepare for these new challenges, planning the qualification and each step that must be followed towards these objectives.

Another important aspect in this month of February is to evaluate the pace. The goal can be calibrated to happen during the year, but this can take a few months. So no charging yourself for everything to happen until March, ok?

Here it is worth remembering the theory of small victories, that is, the simple daily achievements that help in achieving goals and that need to be celebrated.

Goals need to be suited to your reality, your context and your moment in life. Nothing is impossible, but when the goal is too ambitious, the risk of it not happening is great. The advice is to be realistic and honestly and sincerely assess which skills are to be developed and what is lacking for this.

So, my final tip is just one: don't give up! Reassess, breathe, ponder, but go for it. The year is just beginning.
